You learn to live in the in between; between appointments and meltdowns, between laughter and heartbreak, between what you thought life would be and what it actually is. You grieve quietly sometimes, not just for the milestones missed but for the ease that others seem to have. The kind of ease that used to be invisible to you until you no longer had it. You become fluent in acronyms and medical jargon, a reluctant expert in systems you wish you never had to understand.

For Kevin, who lives with cerebral palsy, the cost of living goes far beyond everyday bills.
